just wanted to commment on my new purchase of the the un40b6000. I have been holding off for several years before taking the high definition plunge. I decided on purchasing the samsung edge lit led tv versus just the lcd version. I have to say for the most part I have been very impressed with the picture. right out of the box the tv was easy to setup and not that confusing on the menu options. Everything was pretty straight forward. HDMI cables are so much easier than having to mess with with all of the component and fiberoptic cables. Just plug and play. The picture quality is great and like many other comments have stated it might be to good. I have noticed especially on blue ray movies that the shows have lost their movie look. The picture is so clear that the movie looks like it is being performed on a stage. It is hard to describe in words seeing is truly believing. The only problems that I have run into with this tv is when I hooked up a samsung blueray player. It seems that there is a default program called samsung anynet+. If you dont disable the program from the blueray player it locks up the blueray player. Easy fix if you know the solution. Anyways if you are on the fence with a tv purchase this is a good product. If you can wait on purchasing like any electronics everything will get better and cheaper. The only advice I can give you is that get ready for some extra expenses. HDMI cables are not cheap. However the cheapest cables work just as good as the most expensive. If you are an existing customer with dishnetwork you can negogitate the service fee for having your hd service turned on. Go aheah and get a blueray player with the tv. Even the standard dvds look awesome on it. good luck and hope this review helps. One day at Sam’s I walked by this TV and had to buy it. The slim form factor and the sheer color and radiance out of this TV is unmatched. It stood out amongst 15-20 TVs. Definitely worth a trip to your local electronics store to check it out.

Pros
-Color reproduction is spectacular
-HD Content is extremely clear
-Internet@TV is extremely useful from weather and Youtube to social networks like Facebook and twitter. Yahoo! widgets work well too.
-The menu has a fair amount of adjustments from color to 120hz calibration
-4 HDMI ports
-Extremely thin. 1.7″
-Very simple to set up. The most complicated thing was the stand, and that wasn’t bad.
-The LED backlighting really does a lot for the picture and deep blacks.
-PS3 games and BluRays look excellent.
-Haven’t seen an electric bill to prove this but LED’s consume less energy

Cons-
-No Wifi. You must either buy Samsung’s dongle (Samsung WIS09ABGN LinkStick) or run an ethernet cable to the TV.
-Some standard definition content looks only ok. Hopefully this becomes less of an issue as programming is HD only.
-Only one COMPOSITE IN and 1 AUDIO OUT. And it isn’t the standard Red/White out. Which is fine if all of your equipment is digital
-Screen will go dark if a majority of the screen is showing black. I believe this is due to the TV trying to reproduce dark blacks.

In Summary, this TV looks excellent from picture quality to the overall form factor of it. The internet apps on this are very functional and not a gimmick. LED is definitely worth the money. It may be moderately expensive for some budgets but a great buy for what you’re getting. Each of the stores I went to, they said that the 6400 series was their favorite. Great price for everything you’re getting. If you’re looking for the internet apps, make sure you get the 6400 on up and not the 6300. This TV is great and the picture is phenomenal, it blows away the older LCD sets that pixelated during fast motion. That was my main reason for waiting until LCD technology resolved that issue and this TV does exactly that. I’ve owned this set for over 4 months and the picture still amazes me and my friends.

A big weakness of the set is the sound out of the internal speakers. It is very poor and plugging into a sound system is a must, preferably with a optical cable.

The “fake” or soap opera look on DVDs and HD shows takes a while to get use to and is really not a flaw of the TV. It is actually displaying a picture that you are not use to seeing because the movement is crystal clear and fluid, almost like looking through a glass window and watching a live show. After watching a regular standard TV for many years, your eyes have been trained to see blurry motion (interlaced images) and your brain has been trained to compensate for it. It took about 2 months for things to look “normal” again. Also, things tend to look 3D, you can definitely see perspective and tell what objects in a scene are placed in front or behind the characters, which gives old movies and shows a new look. Watching Cable TV seems normal “flat” with HDMI cables, probably because they downgrade the signal before it reaches the house. The local over-the-air HD stations come in crystal clear and better than the corresponding HD channels on the cable box.

To take full advantage of this set, I would recommend using just HDMI cable connections, and a receiver and Blu-ray player that “upscales” the video content. My extensive DVD collection plays very clear on this set and most movies look 3D. I don’t know how they do it or if the 35mm film had much more detail than was able to be shown on CRT sets, but the video quality from a regular DVD is amazing. Try watching The Shining or any James Bond DVD, especially during the outdoor scenes, looks like it was shot yesterday with a digital camera. I recently bought a Blu-ray/DVD combo movie and I couldn’t tell the difference in the quality between the two, so I think it is just a bunch of marketing hype or very good video upscaling by the TV and BD player (but you need to use HDMI cables for the upscaling feature to work on most components). I just like the fact that DVDs are so cheap as a result of BD.

An extra that this TV offers is Internet connectivity. It has an internet jack to hard wire it into your network. I connected mine wirelessly after buying Samsung’s wireless usb adapter for about online. You have to use Samsungs wireless usb adapter because non Samsung ones will not work on it. It took a while for it to see my home network and I had to go down to a 64-bit security key but it finally joined the network (also no special characters or spaces in your Network Name). Right off you have Yahoo widgets and one of them being YouTube and others that you can download. Yes, you can search and play YouTube content right on the TV and it upscales the video so it looks better than what it does on my 23″ computer monitor. The bad thing is that you have to use the remote to type in on the onscreen keyboard which it often times overshoots the desired letters and is more frustrating than useful. A wireless keyboard would be a nice accessory. Other widgets have weather, sports, stock prices, etc. but no web browsing capability. The widgets take a while to load and I don’t really use them. The TV also has built in photos and music and games that you can download, while nice you are confined to using the remote for navigating and as a controller. I didn’t use these features past the 3rd week of owning the set. Also, the TV will download any available updates for itself if it is hooked up to your network, which is a nice feature, usually does this late at night.

A network feature I do use often is streaming my videos, pictures and mp3s off my upstairs computer onto the TV. You don’t need to copy your files over to a USB drive and put it into the TV, however there is an extra USB port to do this if you want, and the TV does have some internal memory. The set has 2 USB ports. To enable streaming off a PC in your home network, all you do is install the software from the CD included with the TV onto any PC connected to your home network and you select what folders and files to share within a windows explorer type interface. Hit apply and a few minutes later, the TV will detect your computer name (you can do this on multiple computers on your network) and these files will stream right to the TV. It does any divx, avi, mp3 and jpg photos. It works really well, however fast forward and rewind on video/movie files sometimes works but not often. Pause and play and exit is what you pretty much get. This TV does everything I wanted or envisioned at the time I purchased it. Definitely a great TV.

I purchased a UN55B800 in February (2009 Model) for around 2200$ dollars for My Living room and was going to watch tune it watch it and make sure i really liked it before i plunked down more money on another set for My Bedroom, well needles to say the picture was amazing the LIN stick Combined with the DVD gave me Streaming of Netfix i was in Heaven. So i go in July to buy another one and the price now was 3100$ and i said i love the TV but thats insane ,and then i see the UN55C8000 is coming free with the DVD and 3-D starter Kit well i never planned on a 3-D it was’nt something that excited me or called out “BUY THE NEW ONE”, but when looking at the new 8000 and the freebies, and watching the price drop i grabbed one in early august for 1900$ for the 2010 model so the 2009 goes in my Bedroom with Soun support from a Yamaha RX Z7, Polk speakers And Sub, And Samsung DVD, with all other A/V components from Yamaha, Power Conditioning and Surge protection From a Furman S 5500. And the 2010 3-D 8000 Gets the Living Room So when My Girlfriends kids come over they can Watch the 3-D. The 8000’s are in my opinion superiour to anything else outhere considering i bought the same model from two model years is putting my money where my mouth is . There is only one thing in these tv’s that bug me and its just a personal preference rather than a flaw oranything that needs fixing.

I should also add for all the people that have had trouble with the shipping company i actually got mine delivered a week sooner than they said they would deliver it so i think it all depends where you are and how far you are from the companies location (I am about 150 miles and live in Pa)

if you do not want 3d this is the best tv to buy! i have the un46c6900 from best buy it is the same tv as the 6800 but a different color bezel. this is the only tv except the c8000 that has the led dimming. with this you get the blackest black i have seen on a led tv. also there is no clouding or light bleeding in the corners of the tv .i have had 4 different tv’s from samsung in the last two years from the 46a650 to the 46b750 and the 6800-6900 tops all of them in picture quality! i did not want the 3d feature so this why i went with this tv.if you do not want to spent the extra money for the 3d model c8000 this is the tv to get.
